Spring Fishing

March through May provides some of the best fishing of the year. People often ask when is the best time of the year to fish – this is it. We are typically fishing on the Roaring Fork just outside of Aspen because there is really no reason to go anywhere else. There are prolific midge hatches during the middle of the day and we start to see some mayflies as well. For a wade trip we general recommend a 1/2 day anytime between 10:00 and 4:00. The float fishing this time of year can be excellent as well, April and May we some excellent caddis hatches on the Colorado and lower roaring Fork.

About Our Float Trips

Float fishing the Roaring Fork and Colorado are popular guided fly fishing trips because we get you access to more water that has experienced less pressure over time. Float trips are generally geared towards more experienced anglers, but we are happy to take beginners depending on conditions.

Our Colorado fly fishing guides are all professional and experienced oarsmen who will escort you down the river in either a classic hard sided drift boat or a raft with a fishing frame depending on what section of the river you float. Boats can accommodate one or two anglers. Colorado River Float trips are a great way to experience our rivers for experts and beginners alike. Lunch is included on full day fly fishing trips.
