Our Guided Trips

Wyoming Fly Fishing Guide Service and Wyoming’s North Platte River Fly Shop Outfitters started running guide trips on the Grey reef sections of the North Platte in 1987, a full ten years before any other outfitters and guide services. We were the first outfitters to start targeting the big trout that these waters have become famous for.  Our guides have been rowing this river longer than any other guide service. Today we are the largest and most experienced guide service on the Grey Reef, Miracle Mile and Fremont Canyon sections of the North Platte River. With over 80 miles of float-access and 40 miles of wade-access waters with some private water, we can provide a multitude of guided fishing trip options. The oldest and most experienced Grey Reef outfitters….. combined with some of the

Our fly fishing clients experience some of the best fly fishing Wyoming has to offer.  You will enjoy the time spent with your guide as you pursue some of the largest rainbow trout in the lower 48 states.  A day well spent brings everyone home with fish stories to last a lifetime. Description:

Ryan Anderson has been guiding for 13 years, 2 seasons in Alaska as a fly out fly fishing guide and 11 seasons here on the North Platte. Ryan has fished all over the world but truly loves his home water in Wyoming. He is a Casper native that grew up learning how to cast (in the wind) from his father and grandfather. He had a fly rod in his hand at the age of 5. By 12 he was Dennis the Menace but armed with a fly rod instead of a sling shot. The trout in the small mountain streams around Casper didn’t stand a chance against this little “trout punk”. Now 30, Ryan is the new owner of the guide service.

Krayfish is a Wyoming native and has worked in the fly fishing biz since he was 12 years old. Kray started in the Fly shop but soon realized he had to be out on the water. When Krayfish first started guiding the clients had to tow the boat because he was only 14 years old and didn’t have a driver’s license yet. “The fish” as he is affectionately called around the shop, has been guiding for 8 years now, and is great guide as well as fisherman and can always have fun on the water.

Description:

I was born, rod in hand, in a small town in Louisiana , where bass and bluegill fishing unleashed the beginnings of a way of life. Soon it was walleye and perch fishing in Canada , largemouth in the midwest, salmon fishing in Alaska , and fly fishing every stream that crossed my path. But about 7 years ago, somewhere between fishing the notorious Snake River and secluded Deer Creek, grew a passion for netting the legendary trout of Wyoming . Needless to say, this is a dream job for me. I just never imagined that guiding a client to trophy trout could be as enjoyable as landing one myself

Description:

Originally from Northeast Georgia, I grew up harassing largemouth bass in local farm ponds and trout in and around the Smokey Mountains.  After venturing west about 10 years ago, I spent 8 years guiding in the Estes Park area of Colorado.  Now with Wyoming Fly Fishing Guides, I’m having a blast guiding clients into trout of the North Platte and Bighorn Rivers.  I enjoy teaching beginners, as well as working with accomplished anglers.  Fly fishing is my passion.  I cherish each opportunity to be on the water and sharing my passion with others.

Why Wyoming?

Visit Wyoming for its rugged beauty and experience one of the last truely wild places. Wyoming is an internationally acclaimed fly fishing destination. The Fremont Canyon, Miracle Mile and Gray Reef tail-waters of the North Platte River all contain brown, rainbow and cutthroat trout. The big rainbows are what these waters are famous for. The “bows” comprise most of the population, but it’s possible to get a Platte River Hat Trick, which is a brown, rainbow and cutthroat trout in the same day. The North Platte River is a diverse and prolific river that produces not only large quantities of trout, but also huge trout. The largest trout caught to date (weighed and measured), came from the Gray Reef section. This brown weighed a whopping 22 lbs.! Rainbows are commonly caught in the five pound to double digit range, but most of the fish average 16 to 22 inches. If you have not yet had a chance to experience the North Platte River, it should be placed on your “to do list” while it is still not spoiled. In recent years people that visit and fish the North Platte River have ranked it as their all-time favorite fishing destination.

Great Guides. Great fishing
